Move-in Details

What to expect and bring on the big day.

What to Expect

Scheduling Your Arrival

Once all your paperwork is sorted and you’re cleared to move in, just give us a call to schedule a day that works best for you!

We kindly suggest avoiding Fridays and weekends, if possible, as doctors’ offices are often closed then, which can complicate medication alignment.

Moving the Boxes

Don't worry about tackling the boxes alone!

Our friendly staff will be available to help you move items into your new room, hang up any frames or wall decor, and get you settled in.

While we don't have a dedicated moving team, we are here to offer support and guidance as you quickly establish your new space.

Meeting the Staff

After we get your belongings into your new home, you'll be introduced to key staff members, including the Community Life Director, the Dining Director, the Facilities Director, and your Medical Team.

Their doors will be open whenever you have a need or just want to chat.

Checking Medication

After introductions, we consolidate all the medication you brought with you and ensure it matches the doctor’s order we have on file. This check is required by the state.

It also means that we can ensure a seamless start to your care, even if we need to have a quick conversation with your doctor’s office.

Establishing a Wellness Baseline

Next, we’ll take a quick stop at the health center.

This includes a brief move-in assessment and a check of your vitals, just to get a good, current baseline for your wellness and safety.

Getting Your Dining Seat

Before you sit down for your first meal, you’ll chat with the Dining Director to get set up with your dining room seating.

We try to sit you with residents we think you’ll enjoy connecting with!

Choosing Your Laundry Routine

Finally, let's talk laundry. At move-in, a bag will be provided for our service, or you can use the washers/dryers on-site to do your own laundry.

It's totally up to you—we want you to maintain your routines!

    Move-in FAQs

Can my family help me move into Friends Home?

Absolutely! Your family is more than welcome to help on move-in day.

While we do not have a dedicated moving team, our staff will be available to help you and your family move boxes and get settled into your room. We encourage family involvement to make the transition feel seamless and supportive.

Do I need to arrange for cable or internet before moving in?

No, we make this simple! A Comcast cable and internet box is already in your room.

Basic cable service is provided, so you don't have to call to set it up. If you want a landline phone,  you will need to call Comcast at 855-638-2855 and provide them with our address and your room number. The resident is responsible for the cost of this service.

Am I allowed to bring my pet with me?

We know pets are family! Our pet policy is designed to be inclusive while ensuring the safety and comfort of all residents.

Please discuss our current pet policy with our Admissions Director during your application process to confirm arrangements for your companion.
