Our Friends’ Belief
Friendship, Independence & SPICES
Our beliefs are the foundation of what we do and ensure the respect of each resident’s dignity, equality, and independence.
The SPICES of Life at Friends Home
Deepened friendships and furthered independence for residents are our daily goals.
Our staff pursue these by practicing the “SPICES”—a set of values founded in our Quaker origin and heritage.
Simplicity
We offer a homelike space designed with access to the natural world and featuring simple beauty.
Peace
We always try to resolve differences without resorting to violent words or actions.
Integrity
We are honest in our interactions with residents, co-workers, families, and business partners.
Community
We cherish the teamwork, unity, and spirit of vitality that pervades everything we do.
Equality
We acknowledge that every person has value and brings a richness to our interactions with one another.
Stewardship
We are mindful in our use of our resources, including the funds entrusted to us, the buildings and equipment in our care, and the environment.
A Place to Truly Live, Laugh & Love
Join a community where Friends become family.

Residents Rights
Respect and dignity are at the core of everything we do.
Our commitment to a person-centered lifestyle extends to fully upholding every resident’s rights as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services.
These include, but are not limited to:
“You shall be treated with dignity and respect.”
“You will be free to practice your faith.”
“You have the right to choose your own health care providers.”
“You have the right to receive visitors for a minimum of 12 hours daily.”
“You are free to leave and return to the home.”
“You have the right to privacy of self and possessions.”

“The people who work there are so caring and loving.”

Equality & Diversity Commitment Statement
